Hope this helps those of you who are still undecided about Lion, to understand the upgrade process a little better. I am using Apples iWork's, with no regrets about leaving Office. Because of the occasion of buying the new iMac, I decided to purge myself of MS Office. I had to throw away my old copy of Microsoft Entourage which is defunct under Lion. The biggest problem I have had to solve with the OS upgrade, is kind of anti-climatic. I don't use notation software, but from what i read, Sibelius works great under Lion. I use a lot of them, and everything worked just fine. PT tells you, when loading, which plugins won't work with Lion.

PT now works without a problem and, in fact, its the best upgrade to PT ever. The good news is that Avid has a very informed forum (not unlike the Mandolin Cafe) and other users help solve just about every problem, whereas Avid Tech support is not as accessible as one might like. Protools 10 had a few annoying glitches upon installation, mostly due to the fact that it uses just about every major and minor aspect of the OS, and i was installing on a new computer. It has immediately become the go-to tool for all tasks related to mastering and technical audio editing. The new version of Adobe Audition (CS 5.5) is a great discovery and works like a dream. Ableton Live and all the Native Instruments toys and tools work just fine as well. Logic worked great out of the box since, after all, it is made by Apple.

It took about 3 weeks to get all my music software optimized and fully working. This particular iMac also has a solid state drive which turns the loading of apps into a very fast experience.
